ABOUT THIRD PARTY CANDIDATES
they're the biggest grift at the POTUS level: they swoop in, get some fans and disappear into the night, after they lose, with quite the bag$$$.
then for 4 years, absolutely nothing from these candidates.
no party presence at the state level.
no support at the local level.
nada.
as i have said before,
VOTING IS HARM REDUCTION
if Biden is the candidate, vote but don't give him money.
fund #TheSquad & #ProgressiveCaucus. force Dems to reckon the real Left
WORKING FAMILIES PARTY
if they ever decided to run a third candidate, i would ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY take them seriously.
they are one local party here in NY that really is ripe for spreading across the United States.

maybe; but they've focused mostly on Congressional elections.
they really need to start running 3rd-party candidates here in NYC and across the state.
3RD PARTY CANDIDATES need to be electable at local & state before they aim for POTUS

this swooping in for POTUS is bullshit if you aren't supporting candidates at all levels, ESPECIALLY LOCALLY where it literally can have life or death impacts on a very personal level
a real political party grows candidates from the local to state to federal.
anything else is a grift for locking in federal money & donations you then get to spend however you want after losing.
and that's the truth

We have one here in NC and I've seen more mobilizing in other parts of the country, too.
I'm not sure about candidates right now, but I do hope that is in the works.
But I definitely understand what you are saying and didn't mean to minimize it.

what i hate about USA elections is that candidates for POTUS are set by oligarchs.
Biden & Trump are the oligarchy's candidates. that's the truth.
as i said, voting in 2024 is, at this point, harm reduction.
so let them know we know what the charade is all about. then spend the next 4 years and for ever fighting the real enemy: the oligarchy.
@majorlinux @dalias honestly, from a tech POV, the fediverse is part of that work.
like, there's so many different points of entry for this. anything that loosens the grip of the oligarchy on their will to financialize every aspect of our lives is part of that work, not just politics and government. solarpunk, cooperatives, credit unions, labor unions, school boards, library boards.
the work is far beyond the electoral cycle.
