@aral @maxheadroom I want hierarchy dismantling but am quite concerned that by avoiding authority, we (progressives) are opting out of social leadership.
@hans @aral @maxheadroom allow me to suggest that focusing too much on (anti-)hierarchy reproduces it. Since reading Christoph Spehr's "eine Grundlegung der freien Kooperation" around 2000 I rather focus on how free cooperation can take many different forms including (temporary) hierarchical ones but requires the freedom to exit without sanctions .... No English translation I know off but here is an English interview with Christoph https://networkcultures.org/geert/out-cooperating-the-empire-exchange-with-christoph-spehr/ from 2006 and still on point today
@hpk the interview is great, I'm only halfway through and have marked it up with highlights. Wish I read German.
@hans great to hear you also appreciate it. It's indeed a long interview and discussion and contains a lot of interesting points (even though the praise of wikipedia is a bit too high in hindsight, but ok) even 18 years it was conducted. I still know of no other german intellectual promoting a similarly deep understanding of free co-operation, and the distinction of online and physical interactions. It's a pity that his german essays and writing have not been translated much as far as i see.
