I agree about the JavaScript/scripting because businesses can’t behave.
But at least support HTML5 and CSS3 or don’t pretend to support HTML email.
To produce branded, typeset and consistently laid out copy, only text is not adequate.

I view emails as text, anyway. HTML makes it easier to hide tricks.
I don’t give the scammers (and that includes many companies) free rein on my computer.

I would like to have a system where I could send the person receiving the email their preferred format but that’s not catered for by email systems.
Similar to CLI or GUI interface user preferences.
@dahukanna some clients still respect the intent of MIME and use the plaintext payload for previews. But people writing email-generating systems forget about anything but HTML. Hilariously, this means those slimy “click to read the message" notifications from Facebook and LinkedIn will show the actual message on e.g. the Apple Watch.
