All eyes on Rafah… and then what? What do we do with the attention of so many people who genuinely want this to end? Tens of millions of us have demonstrated for 8 months and the degree of our disenfranchisement is revealed in our failure to stop it. We need to build that power.
Like the climate crisis, what’s revealed more than anything is that outrage and opposition alone will not stop any of this because our politico-economic system is designed to absorb that. We need to change that system, and so we need to build the organizational strength to do so.
This isn’t to criticize anyone trying to draw attention to Rafah, only to say that merely looking on in horror is not going to stop this. It’s not true that “the world doesn’t care,” not in the slightest. But we don’t live in societies where people caring translates to policy.
@babadookspinoza what, then, is the path to influence for those who care?
What positive forces can we amplify, to counter the cynical use of capital to free itself from social and ethical constraints?
